Qualified or Experienced Accountant

Overview:Discount Builders Merchants (Kent) Limited are seeking a qualified or experienced Accountant to join our finance team. This is a hands-on role with a broad scope of responsibilities supporting the Finance Manager and CFO across our group of companies. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple functions within the finance department.Key Responsibilities:Preparing and posting journal entriesCompleting VAT returns for the GroupPreparation of quarterly management accountsManaging the purchase ledger, including invoice processing and supplier reconciliationOverseeing credit control, insurance of credit accounts and chasing outstanding debtsProducing cash flow forecasts and monitoring variancesMonthly control account reconciliationPerforming bank reconciliations, including USD and Euro accountsAssisting with stock control and inventory adjustmentsPreparing and submitting confirmation statementsSupporting with general ad hoc finance and administrative duties as requiredGovernment Surveys keeping evidential record of responsesAudit file preparationRequirements:Part-qualified, qualified by experience, or fully qualified (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)Experience in producing management accountsSolid understanding of accounting principles and proceduresProficient in accounting software and ExcelStrong attention to detail, organisational skills, and time managementProactive team player with excellent communication skillsSoftware UsedKerridge Commercial Systems (predominantly)SageHours8am – 5pm with a 1-hour lunch breakMonday to FridayLocationNewly refurbished Head Office – Upper Floor, Lower Road, Botany Marsh, Northfleet, Kent, DA11 9BBThe role is in office no opportunity for remote or hybrid working is available
